Apply a low nitrogen slow-release fertilizer or compost in early spring

Provide deep infrequent watering (1-2" water per week when dry spells occur), apply low nitrogen, balanced fertilizer (5-10-5) in early spring, install peony rings or cages, cut stalks down to 3" above ground in late autumn, discard cut foliage
