  • The Garden is managed by OSU Extension Service Master Gardeners.

  • There are 90 garden plots that are rented to the public for organic vegetable gardening.

  • Cost of the plots is $35 (10' x 10') and $45 (10' x 15') (approx. sizes), and includes automatic watering.

  • Garden classes are provided throughout the gardening season at Hollinshead Park.  See the COMGA  or OSU/Deschutes County Extension websites for information and the garden schedule.

Getting a Garden Plot at Hollinshead Community Garden:

Renting a garden plot at Hollinshead Community Garden (HHCG) is done by lottery each year. Returning gardeners in good standing are invited back to garden in the plots they rented the previous year.

LOTTERY opens March 1st and closes March 31 at noon.  (Click here, during March, to enter the lottery)

  • Please read the Hollinshead Community Garden Guidelines

  • Individual names of registered participants will be entered in a spreadsheet and a random generator will select the winners. One entry per household only please.

  • Each winner will be notified by email within 5 days of this lottery, indicating their status.

  • Once names are chosen for the available plots, the remaining participants will be placed on a waiting list.  (Plots might become available during the growing season, and those on the waiting list will be notified by email when their name reaches the top of the list.)

 Choosing your Plot:

  • In the order their name was drawn, each new gardener will be sent an email with a Hollinshead garden plot map showing the available plots.

  • Each new gardener will have the opportunity to choose one garden plot within a given time.  If a plot is not selected by that new gardener within the time allotment, we will assume that he/she is not interested, and the next person on the waitlist will be notified.

  • Wait-listed participants are not carried forward to the next season.  We begin anew each year.

2025 Garden opening date:  April 19, 2025

  • Prior to opening day, gardeners must register online and pay the rental fee.

  • All plot renters or their designees are expected to maintain their plot and the neighboring pathways throughout the growing season.
