Care Recommendations

Fertilizer:

Thrives on low nitrogen, high phosphorous fertilizer (5-10-10) applied in early spring

Mulch:

2-3" layer of shredded bark, compost, or wood chips

Cut back to 12-18" above ground in late winter, keep soil moist, fertilize in early spring, mulch heavily to protect roots

Long Term:

Winter:

Cut back to within 8-12" from ground, mulch if not done in fall, avoid overwatering

Spring:

Cut back hard leaving 6-12" of stems, apply balanced fertilizer, apply 2-3" layer of mulch, ensure support is secure

Keep soil moist, protect roots, apply fertilizer monthly thru September, watch for pests
